tab1_imageIMPACT60 Learning Systems® is currently offering 12 60 MINUTES for IMPACT ® Managers’ Workshops. These are  all one-hour management training programs for the front-line supervisors and managers to mid level managers. They will help your supervisors and managers develop the critical soft, conceptual and functional skills needed to be highly-effective managerial leaders in today’s 21st century workplace environment. An additional 36 workshops are currently in development, with nearly 200 topics set for future development.

Leading as a Manager

Workshop Objective

The purpose of this workshop is to provide managers an understanding of the skills necessary to enhance their leadership capabilities toward becoming highly effective. It will make managers aware of general leadership practices, and focus them specifically on related leadership behavioral indicators that they can realistically employ on the job.

Learning Objective

Upon completion of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Recognize the four functions of management
  • Know the importance of leadership to the organization’s managers
  • Apply leadership characteristics and behaviors in their management style

Leading Effective Teams

Workshop Objective

The purpose of this workshop is to provide managers a consistent approach for leading their teams to a higher level of performance by first finding a common purpose for their work. It will make managers aware of the multi-faceted skills needed to be effective team leaders, and focus them on one core competency toward that end: Finding Common Purpose.

Learning Objective

Upon completion of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Know the three core competencies of effective team leadership
  • Learn the core competency, Finding Common Purpose
  • Apply the characteristics of Finding Common Purpose in a practical application simulation
  • Implement key characteristics and behaviors on-the-job to ensure their team has a common purpose

Setting Clear Expectations

Workshop Objective

The purpose of this workshop is to provide managers a consistent way of setting expectations to gain their employees’ understanding of, and commitment to, the achievement of organizational objectives. It will make managers aware of the benefits–to them, their employees and their organizations–for improving their ability to clearly communicate performance expectations and thus attain both organizational objectives and individual goals.

Learning Objective

Upon completion of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Identify organizational objectives that are both relevant and specific to their employees’ jobs
  • Understand how job competencies align to organizational objectives
  • Communicate clear job performance expectations to their employees

Aligning Corporate and Work-Unit Objectives

Workshop Objective

The purpose of this workshop is to teach managers the importance of basing work-unit (or “team”) objectives on company objectives. Managers will learn how to create effective objectives that make it possible to evaluate the success of their work-units in supporting the corporate objectives. It will make managers aware of the benefits to them and their teams for developing work-unit objectives that contribute to the achievement of corporate objectives, and of evaluating how well their work-unit objectives support the company’s strategic objectives.

Learning Objective

Upon completion of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Communicate the value to their teams of aligning corporate objectives and work-unit objectives
  • Create specific and practical objectives for the work-unit that link to the company’s strategic objectives
  • Evaluate their teams’ effectiveness in supporting company objectives

Conducting Effective Team Meetings

Workshop Objective

The purpose of this workshop is to provide managers tools and expertise to plan, conduct, and maximize the effectiveness of business meetings held with their team. It will make participants aware of the steps needed to conduct effective team meetings, including the need to establish a purpose and objective for each meeting and to follow an established agenda.

Learning Objective

Upon completion of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Determine if and when a meeting is necessary
  • Implement steps to plan and execute an effective meeting
  • Create meeting agendas and ground rules

Essentials of Persuasive Presentations

Workshop Objective

The purpose of this workshop is to provide managers a simple model for developing and making persuasive presentations. It will make managers aware of the benefits to them and their team of being able to persuasively present ideas to others.

Learning Objective

Upon completion of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Apply the essential steps for making a persuasive presentation
  • Prepare a persuasive presentation
  • Understand how to reduce presentation anxiety through preparation and practice

Helping Teams Analyze Performance Problems

Workshop Objective

The purpose of this workshop is to provide managers an understanding of the skills necessary to lead their work group/team through problem analysis and resolution by applying a simple, process-oriented methodology. It will make managers aware of the benefits to them and their team of applying a process orientation to problem solving. Moreover, it will help managers to work with their teams to better identify the performance problems faced by teams, determine the causative factors, and prepare them to resolve the problems.

Learning Objective

Upon completion of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Implement an analytical process with their team to address team performance problems
  • Conduct effective analysis to identify problems in team performance
  • Apply the “Fishbone Problem Analysis Process” to identify Root Cause(s) of team problems

Providing Performance Feedback

Workshop Objective

The purpose of this workshop is to provide managers a broad understanding of performance coaching utilizing the FACE-to-FACE Coaching Model, and to teach them how to provide employees effective feedback on their performance. It will make managers aware of the benefits to their employees and their organizations of providing performance feedback in a constructive and effective manner.

Learning Objective

Upon completion of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Recognize the foundational principles of FACE-to-FACE Coaching
  • Understand how providing performance feedback affects employee motivation, overall performance, and job satisfaction
  • Effectively provide formative and motivational feedback when coaching an employee

Actively Managing Conflict

Workshop Objective

The purpose of this workshop is to provide managers the skills necessary to prevent, reduce, and manage conflict among their teams/work groups. It will make managers aware of the benefits to them and their teams of identifying the characteristics of and utilizing the steps for managing conflict within their work environments.

Learning Objective

Upon completion of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Apply three strategies/behaviors to reduce and manage conflict in their workplaces
  • Engage in a five-step process to manage conflict in their work environments

Managing Your Team through Change

Workshop Objective

The purpose of this workshop is to provide managers an understanding of how change in the workplace may affect members of their teams and how to effectively manage the transition for a positive outcome. It will make managers aware of the benefits to them and their teams of effectively managing change.

Learning Objective

Upon completion of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Understand that their teams’ transition through change is essential to the company
  • Use a six-step process to manage the impact of change on their teams

Essentials of Managing Remote Personnel

Workshop Objective

The purpose of this workshop is to provide managers the basic insights needed to manage remotely located personnel. It will make participants aware of the unique challenges they face when managing a dispersed team, and it will enhance their listening skills to enable them to more effectively communicate with their dispersed team members.

Learning Objective

Upon completion of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Recognize the differences between managing remote personnel versus co-located personnel
  • Understand the specific challenges of managing dispersed team members
  • Know when to use available technologies to optimize communications with remote personnel
  • Demonstrate the application of highly focused listening skills to maximize communications with remote personnel

Managing a Socially Networked Workplace

Workshop Objective

The purpose of this workshop is to provide managers an understanding of how the use of social media in the workplace may affect them, members of their team, and their organizations, and how to effectively manage its responsible use at work. It will make managers aware of the benefits of ensuring that individual employees act responsibly when using social media and of minimizing the potential for adverse impact on themselves, their employees, and the organization by guarding against improper use.

Learning Objective

Upon completion of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the uses and risks associated with using social media in the workplace
  • Understand the importance of using social media responsibly to protect both their employees and the organization
  • Prepare to conduct a meeting with their direct reports to set expectations for the responsible use of social media at work
